Cunningham Engineering is seeking an experienced civil engineer with a land development background, coupled with strong Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) skills. This is a great opportunity to apply your specialized drainage expertise and general design skills on a broad variety of challenging assignments.  As a civil engineer/hydrologist, you will directly contribute to Cunningham’s strategic growth and success.   

Your responsibilities as a Cunningham Hydrology & Hydraulic (H&H) Engineer will include:

  • Drainage master-planning for residential, institutional and commercial land development and site development projects. Includes both local (site-level) and regional H&H evaluations

  • Conceptual and detailed (CD-level) drainage analyses and designs for conveyance, drainage impacts mitigation, stormwater quality, and hydromodification management

  • General civil site planning and design - including layout, grading & drainage, and utilities

The successful candidate will possess: 

  • California-registered Civil PE, or ability to obtain CA Civil PE within first year of employment 

  • 5 years minimum experience in a consulting engineering setting, working on land development, site design and municipal infrastructure projects

  • Demonstrated proficiency in HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (steady/unsteady), and EPA SWMM 5 (steady/unsteady)

  • Strong general civil engineering design skills and knowledge

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, consultants and agency personnel

  • Strong technical writing skills
